Webinar replay: “Four institutional procurement models for sourcing local food”
On Thursday, September 26 2022, Emilie Boivin-Deroy moderated a webinar entitled “Four Institutional Procurement Models for Sourcing Local Food.” With the support of the Local and Integrated Food System in Montreal (SALIM) team, she presented the results of her research into four different models of institutional procurement for sourcing local food, as part of Les Institutions mangent local! week.
Case studies of two daycare centres (CPEs) and two hospital institutions were carried out to characterize the demand from actors who have set up local food supply chains in an institutional environment, and to identify the accessibility factors and conditions of success for their development and sustainability.
The purpose of these initiatives is to facilitate the marketing of agricultural products from farms on the island of Montreal and throughout Quebec. The targeted “case studies” are institutions that have been sourcing directly from producers in Montreal for three years or more.
