Case studies – Institutional Procurement Models for Sourcing Local Food

Collectif Récolte presents the results of its research into four different models of institutional supply in local circuits.

As part of this project, Emilie Boivin-Deroy, supported by the Local and Integrated Food System in Montreal (SALIM) team, is characterizing the demand from actors who have set up local food supply chains, in order to identify the accessibility factors and the conditions of success for their development and sustainability.

The purpose of these initiatives is to facilitate the marketing of agricultural products from farms on the island of Montreal and throughout Quebec. The targeted “case studies” are institutions that have been sourcing directly from producers in Montreal for three years or more. In the context of this study, two daycare centres (CPEs) and two hospital institutions were selected according to the selection criteria.
